Please note the orange sunglasses. Classic. Oh, and minor detail...that very night, Kristen got engaged! The magic of snowshoeing...congrats Kristen and Dave!!
Well, I had so much fun on that little trip, that I decided to go on an overnight snowshoe trip with Jessi and her brother, Kevin. Again, we couldn't have asked for better weather. We got there late afternoon, and so we were hiking into the night. We didn't even really need headlamps because the moon was so bright. It was a-mazing. We snowshoed on the Mt Tahoma Trails at the base of Mt. Rainier and stayed in a Yurt overnight. It was super fun! We thought we had the place to ourselves, and just as we were going to sleep, we had a couple other cross country skiers join us. With their margaritas. Ha! Luckily, they were pleasant enough and weren't too rowdy.
The inside of the Yurt. It seriously has all the basic comforts of home (well, minus the bathroom and runing water. But the outhouse seriously wasn't too shabby. They keep these places up quite nicely). And it has heating-which was great, because I HATE being cold!
The heating stove. As a courtesy, you fill those pots up with snow for the next people who will be staying there, so they can boil it to water for cooking their meals.
The outside of the Yurt :)
We 'shoed to the "High Hut", one of the alternative places to stay from the yurt. Pretty steep uphill climb, but amazing views of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding mountains from the top.
Please note the matching blue tops. I felt left out from the last snowshoe trip, so when I went to REI to buy supplies for this trip and saw that the right color was on sale, I bought it to match. Now the 3 of us need to go snowshoeing again :)
Look how much fun we had!! It was a super great trip. Fun is always had when Jessi and I get together! Anyone is welcome to join us for our next trip!

I am getting cold just looking at your pics. There was no snow when we were in Utah so I am living vicariously through you--it is gorgeous! I've never been snowshoeing (gasp!). At least I have been skiing eh? What other adventures do you have planned for the year? Hopefully a girls' trip! I need to get on that. Wow...I should have just sent you an email cause this is turning out to be one.

Looks like fun! And gorgeous pictures! I always wanted to try snowshoeing but chickened out because we all know how I feel about snow! :-) Glad you had a good time though. Loves!
Kelli, I laughed so hard about you buying a blue top. We definitely do need to snow shoe again now!
